It is so tough when your kids are sick and in pain.

My father is a smoker and had to be put on a ventilator for over 24 hours after having surgery recently. It was horrible to see him in the hospital like that. It kills me to know that because of smoking my kids (1 and 5) may not even remember their grandpa if he keeps doing it. I was 4 when my own grandpa died from smoking related illness and I only remember his as the scary man with the oxygen tank and the tubes up his nose. He was scary to me because of the noises is oxygen made evertime he took a breath.

I myself quit 6 years ago this April when I found out I was prego with my oldest. It is very hard but not impossible especially when you do for the sake of your kids. Good luck and congrats on not having one today. The urge never goes away, but it does get alot easier. The neverending journeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14175495076165017435noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7000745449077260160.post-37352442026135098512010-02-26T15:42:13.657-05:002010-02-26T15:42:13.657-05:00I'm happy to hear that your daughter is doing ...I'm happy to hear that your daughter is doing better. I have two boys and it IS heart wrenching when either of them get sick.

I remember having to take my oldest son to the ER (he was 6 years old at the time)...some years ago. He was in agony, couldn't walk and the doctors didn't know what to make of it.
After two days of probing they found that a piece of his stomach lining had "died" and the tissue had wrapped around his appendix. This performed surgery on him and removed his appendix as well, and within a few hours of his surgery,m he was back to feeling a whole lot better.

It was a horrible feeling to sit there and watch my son in so much pain and not know how to help him feel better.

I'm also a smoker, but I'm working on this...(slowly but surely)

Take care :)
LisaLisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11111581967612996555noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7000745449077260160.post-89446680414570865812010-02-26T15:22:51.965-05:002010-02-26T15:22:51.965-05:00Enz-

She said she would jump extra for me just in case I needed help (she was being totally sincere).FogDoghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16261774071964785378noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7000745449077260160.post-80110799005636554062010-02-26T14:49:58.496-05:002010-02-26T14:49:58.496-05:00I am so glad your daughter is going to be ok, that...I am so glad your daughter is going to be ok, that must have been heartwrenching for you all.

Quick smoking story. My FIL smoked since he was 12 years old. From the time my son was old enough to speak, he'd tell his "Poppa" to stop, it was bad for him, it would make him sick, he would die. Poppa would just smile at him indulgently and tell him he was fine.

Well, the worst happened. He got lung cancer and passed away. By that time my son was 10. When Poppa became ill and was diagnosed, my son was beside himself, he kept saying, "Why couldn't I make him listen to me? Why didn't Poppa believe me? Why wouldn't Poppa just stop?" He is now 16 and he still feels guilty that he couldn't help his Poppa, no matter how much we try and explain to him that it wasn't his fault.

It does affect people more than you know.Enzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14960677775063373213noreply@blogger.com
